	DESARROLLO DEL PROYECTO LIFE “TANINOS”
	UTILIZACION DE EXTRACTOS TANINOS DEL VINO PARA SU USO EN LA INDUSTRIA DEL CURTIDO
Un equipo de trabajo encabezado por el Director General de Calidad Ambiental, Fernando Flores, se reunió el viernes con el fin de intercambiar opiniones sobre el proyecto Life "Taninos", que tiene por objeto la obtención de extractos taninos del vino para su utilización en la industria del curtido, lo que repercutiría en reducir la explotación forestal. La reunión, celebrada en la Consejería de Medio Ambiente y Política Territorial, supone el primer encuentro de todos los beneficiarios y socios de este proyecto europeo, según informó este departamento en una nota de prensa publicada por Europa Press. El principal beneficiario del proyecto Life "Taninos" es la Asociación Española de las industrias del curtido y anexas y cuenta como socios, además de la Dirección General de Calidad Ambiental del Gobierno de La Rioja, con la Alcoholera de La Rioja, Ebro y Duero y con la Sociedad Aragonesa de Curtición de Ovinos, entre otros. El proyecto tiene como objetivos evitar la tala de ciertas especies de árboles utilizados en la industria del curtido, como la mimosa o el castaño; sustituir los extractos vegetales de los árboles por un subproducto de la industria vinícola; la valorización de este subproducto con la obtención del extracto tánico; la sustitución del uso de metales pesados como el cromo; y la eliminación de polvo en los talleres de curtidos.

	LIFE PROJECT “TANNIN”
	USE OF TANNIN EXTRACTS OF WINE IN THE TANNING INDUSTRY
A work team directed by the General Manager of Environmental Quality, Fernando Flores, met last Friday to interchange opinions about the Life Project “Tannin”, which uses the tannin extracts of wine in the tanning industry, to reduce the forestry. This meeting had place at the Environment and Territorial Politic Department, and it was the first meeting with all members of this European project. This department gave this information to Europa Press. The Life project “Tannin” benefits the Spanish Association of tanning industries, the General Direction of Environmental Quality of the Riojan Government, the Alcohol Factory of Rioja, Ebro and Duero and the Aragonese Society of Ovine Tanning. The project will avoid the tree felling of some species used by the tanning industry, like the mimosa or the chestnut tree, changing the vegetal extracts from the trees for a sub-product of the wine producing industry, the tannin extract. The project could also substituting the heavy metals used (like chrome) and avoiding the dust of the tanning factories.
