| Las tradiciones de Semana Santa riojanas tienen un peculiar punto de interés en “Los Picaos” de San Vicente de la Sonsierra. Esta bella localidad riojana, rodeada de viñedos, muestra durante la Semana Santa la tradición ancestral de los Picaos. Se trata de la última y única manifestación del rito penitencial, mediante flagelación, que queda en España donde, hasta el siglo XVIII, era práctica relativamente frecuente en pueblos y ciudades. Las fechas en las que repiten actos con disciplinantes son: - Jueves Santo, durante la procesión de la Santa Cena (19:30 h., hora aproximada inicio procesión) - Jueves Santo, en la Hora Santa a las 11 de la noche. - Viernes Santo, tras la Procesión del Vía Crucis (11:30 h., hora aproximada inicio procesión) - Viernes Santo, durante la Procesión del Santo Entierro. (20:30 h., hora aproximada inicio procesión) - Cruz de Mayo, día 3 de mayo si es domingo y si no el domingo siguiente (18 h., hora aproximada inicio procesión) - Cruz de Septiembre, día 14 de septiembre si es domingo y si no el domingo siguiente (18 h., hora aproximada inicio procesión). | Traditions during the Holy Week have place in Rioja. The “Picaos” of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, a beautiful place surrounded by vineyards, is an ancestral tradition. It is the last and only sign of the penitence rite with flagellation that remains in Spain. During the century XVIII it was common in villages and towns. These events will have place during: - Holy Thursday: Procession of the Holy Dinner (the procession will start at 19:30 h. approx.) - Holy Thursday: At the Holy Hour (23:00 h.) - Holy Friday: Procession of Via Crucis (11:30 h. approx.) - Holy Friday: Procession of the Holy Burial (20:30 h. approx.) - Cross of May: On May 3 if it is Sunday or next Sunday in the other case (18:00 h. approx.) - Cross of September: On September 14 if it is Sunday or next Sunday in the other case (18:00 h. approx.)
